Happy Birthday to ME!

Graduation Day means Adorable Talent Show

A picture Wrap-up of my last job

That's Kelly in the pink (or Kells as I called her). When I first started teaching at the school, I started with a strict and stern approach. I'm fine playing the role of the mean teacher as long as I have the students respect, and fear is an excellent tool for controlling a classroom.
My method initially rubbed Kelly the wrong way, and we had a lot of boundary crossing early on. After I figured out that it was necessary for me to relax my methods, I acted like a clown a lot and showed the children much more compassion for them, Kelly stuck to me like algae on a pond. She would always smile and laugh with me and was excellent in class and fought to be my favorite kids.

Sweet sweet Lucy. She is an absolute angel. Always smiling and always good, I am sad that I wont have her in class anymore. At their graduation, they were giving out flowers to the teachers, and she got a whole bouquet from our director for her excellence and on her way out, she took one flower out and gave it to me. So precious!

Sara, the goofball. She was one of the funnest students i may ever have. She was always ready to laugh even when she was mad, and as you can see she has a beautiful and warm smile that could cheer me up everyday. She was an absolute joker and the self appointed teachers assistant, and as Meaghan can attest to, she was a joy to have around. She was leaving the school for the new school year, and last I saw her she was crying uncontrollably because she was leaving her friends and teachers behind. (her best friend was Lucy)

These are some pictures from Sara's goodbye party (the second to last time I saw her). She's sprawled out on the floor in the one picture because she was very much against leaving at the end of the day. She started to act like her backpack was too heavy, or her legs didn't work and took way too long to leave. It was absolutely adorable and touching. I really will miss those kids.

Except that last one.
June was a devil-child.

Ok. Time to start again.... :-)

I'm still at school now at my teachers desk (! fancy fancy !) because I have break times now between classes (holy crap). My new work place is so freakin superior to my previous one its not even funny. oh wait, yes it is because I'm out of that crap hole!
That's the problem when you work with kids. No matter how bad the working conditions are, you still always grow attachments to the little jerks and thus always bring yourself to like at least ONE thing about the crap hole you work in.
But anyway, because I moved out of the plush suburbs to the big city, my living conditions have gotten slightly worse. This is really a small trade-off for the amount that my working conditions have improved. And I do mean in EVERY way. Even the kids are better behaved.

I got class again. gotta go.

A going away party for Amy

i'm very sorry to say meaghan missed meeting one of my favorite kids by two weeks.

Amy from my Gentle class left for Canada last week, so she came in the day before her flight to say goodbye to her classmates and friends, and feed them a really, REALLY pink 'Hello Kitty' cake. it tasted like plastic strawberries dipped in butter. literally. that is a perfect description.

Alice is a goofball. she is the smartest kid in class, so she often is bored, and she remedies that by making her on fun all the time. she loves to pretend. she often loves to pretend to hate me. yes, i know. im giving you all a green light to slip in some jokes there, but its true. she pretends to be mad over obviously made up situations, and throws fake tantrums like the one above. everyone including me get a kick out of it.

i will miss squeezing Amy's cheeks. i dont know when but i picked up the habit of squeezing kids cheeks from meaghan. she does it all the time and i thought she was a big weirdo, but it is a fun thing to do. its funny to see the looks on their faces when you do it, and Amy would always give me this deadpan expression with me squeezing the mess outta her face. it was priceless.

i got this jelly-lollipop as a going away present. do you notice the 'cute' theme yet?

an-yong!~~
